(a.k.a., How Your Aid Award Is Determined)
No
big mystery here, we simply take the cost of education minus the expected family
contribution =
maximum eligibility for assistance, i.e…
|

COST (Tuition, room, board)
- EFC*

COST (Tuition)

|
*as determined by the federal processor
Thus,
the major component in determining your eligibility for aid is your cost
of attendance. This cost will
vary depending on the number of credit hours for which you enroll and your
residency status. You are
responsible for notifying the Financial Aid Office in writing of changes in
enrollment residency. Failure to do
so may, unfortunately, result in loss of aid.
Please note that for commuter students, we do try to include additional
loan funds to help with off-campus expenses.
Once
we have determined your eligibility for aid, we construct an aid award.
The award will consist of non-repayable gift assistance (federal, state
or institutional), loan assistance (at your option), and federal work-study
(also at your option). No student
is required to take out a loan nor to
participate in the work study program. These
are merely means of obtaining funds to assist you with your financial obligation
to the College, should you choose to do so.
